Athens, Greece

Three weeks of pre-health clinical shadowing at a private teaching hospital in Athens, with a small group, documented hours, and optional college credit, just $100 for 2027. Evenings and weekends, you explore one of Europe's most historic cities.

Why Athens.

Metropolitan General is a modern hospital in the northern suburbs of Athens, with departments from cardiology and oncology to obstetrics, radiology, internal medicine, and surgery. Every rotation has a named, English-speaking physician. You shadow in the mornings, then explore one of Europe's most walkable, affordable, and historic cities.

Three excursions are included: a day cruise to the Saronic islands, the ancient healing sanctuary at Epidaurus and the citadel at Mycenae, and sunset at the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion.

Your team in Athens

Your on-site coordinator lives in Athens and has built the relationship with Metropolitan General over time. They know the hospital, the physicians, and the neighborhood where you'll stay, down to which taverna near your apartment has the best souvlaki and which metro line gets you to the hospital fastest. You're not handed off to a stranger. You're welcomed by someone who calls this city home.
