Spend two weeks inside Belize's health system. In your first week, you shadow Belizean nurses and medical professionals in public and private hospitals and medical centers. Then you spend three to four days with community health workers, assisting on home visits in the towns and villages around San Ignacio and seeing what care looks like when it comes to someone's front door.

Along the way, you learn how Belize's health system works, how care is delivered in a different social and cultural setting, and what culturally competent care looks like in practice. The internship is open to nursing students from any college or university, and every student who has joined it in the past three years has rated it 10 out of 10.

You stay in a guest house in San Ignacio, sharing a room with other nursing interns, with breakfast and transportation to your clinical sites included. Between rotations, there is an organized wilderness excursion, the town market, and free time to explore Belize with your fellow interns. Our Belize team is there to support you around the clock.
