Four weeks in Belize, in two parts. First, two weeks of global health: field visits, lectures, and clinical observation. Then two weeks of clinical rotations, shadowing Belizean nurses and community health workers in hospitals, clinics, and communities. You'll see how care works in a different system and come home with a perspective your classmates won't have.

In the first half, you join students from other schools to learn key issues in global health through Belize's healthcare system. In the second half, the Community Health Nursing Clinical Internship, you shadow Belizean nurses and community health workers and see different ways of delivering care, and what culturally competent care looks like in practice. The program is open to nursing students from any college or university.

You stay in a guest house in San Ignacio, sharing a room with other CELA students, with breakfast and transportation to program and clinical sites included. Along the way there are organized excursions to ancient Maya ruins and a wilderness tour, plus free time to explore Belize or just relax with your fellow students.

Requirements: Some clinical sites ask for a simple resume for placement.
